Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information when you use the Medical Dutch mobile application (the "App") and visit medicaldutch.app (see 2.6). By using the App you accept the practices described here.
1. Who we are
The App is published by LONG-AWAITED GUESTS LIMITED, a company registered in Cyprus (EU). It teaches Dutch medical vocabulary to healthcare professionals through short exercises, and it is an educational product rather than a clinical tool. We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information. The App creates an anonymous account for you automatically. If you later sign in, we collect your email address and, where the sign-in provider supplies it, your name. Sign-in is available by email link, Google or Apple.
- Onboarding answers. Your profession, your level of Dutch, the country you are preparing for and your learning goal. We use these to choose which course to open for you.
- Learning progress. Which cards and courses you have studied, your answers, your daily goal, your streak and your history. This is what lets you continue where you left off and keeps your progress when you change device.
- Messages you send us. Support requests, and reports you file about a specific card.
2.2 Voice recordings
The App has speaking exercises. When you use them, your device's microphone records you and the recording is converted to text so we can check your pronunciation against the expected phrase.
- Recognition runs on your device whenever your device supports it offline for Dutch.
- When it does not — offline Dutch models are not available on every device — the audio is sent to Apple (on iOS) or Google (on Android) for recognition, under their own privacy terms.
- We never receive or store the audio itself. Only the outcome — whether your answer was accepted — is saved as part of your progress.
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Device information: device identifiers, operating system version, device model, app version and whether the device is an emulator.
- Usage data: sessions, screens viewed, exercises started and completed, and navigation patterns.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and error logs used to find and fix defects.
- IP address, collected automatically when the App talks to our servers.
- Advertising identifier, only if you allow tracking when asked, and only to measure which campaign brought you to the App.
2.4 Payment information
Subscriptions are purchased and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation of the transaction and your subscription status. We never see your card or payment method details.
2.5 Push notifications
If you allow notifications, we store your messaging token, your time zone and your reminder preferences so that a reminder arrives at the hour you chose.
2.6 This website
medicaldutch.app works without cookies. Only if you accept analytics cookies in the banner do we load Google Analytics, which counts visits and records the pages you view, which download buttons you click, your device and browser type, how you arrived (for example from a search or an ad) and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Google Analytics does not store the IP address itself. It sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_* that expire after up to 2 years; event data is kept for at most 14 months. If you decline, nothing is loaded from Google. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
The download buttons go through Adjust, which records the click so that we can tell which page or campaign led to an install, then forwards you to the App Store or Google Play.
We do not collect precise location, health records or government identity documents.
3. Who processes data for us
We use the following providers. They process data on our behalf or receive part of what we collect:
- Firebase (Google) — Authentication, database, file storage, analytics, crash reporting, push notifications
- Adapty — Subscription management and revenue analytics
- Adjust — Attribution and marketing analytics
- Meta (Facebook) — Marketing analytics and campaign attribution
- Apple and Google — speech recognition when it cannot run on your device (see 2.2), and payment processing for subscriptions.
We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not show third-party advertising inside the App.
4. Why we use your data
- To run the App: deliver lessons, track progress, keep your streak and pick what to show you next.
- To keep your account: sign you in, turn an anonymous account into a real one and synchronise progress across your devices.
- To handle subscriptions: unlock premium content for the people who have paid for it.
- To fix problems: read crash reports and error logs so defects get found.
- To support you when you write to us.
- To send the reminders you asked for, if you enabled notifications.
- To understand and improve the App through aggregated usage statistics.
- To measure our marketing, so we know which campaigns work.
5. Legal basis
- Contract: account, progress and subscription data — without it the App cannot do what you installed it for.
- Consent: push notifications, microphone access and advertising identifiers in the App, and analytics cookies on this website. You can withdraw consent at any time in the App, in your device settings or with "Cookie settings" on this website.
- Legitimate interests: diagnostics, security and aggregated analytics used to improve the App.
- Legal obligation: where a law requires us to keep or disclose information.
6. How long we keep it
- Account and progress: for as long as your account exists.
- After you delete your account: your personal data is removed from our production systems immediately, and from backups within 30 days.
- Aggregated analytics that can no longer be linked to you may be kept indefinitely.
- Website analytics: Google Analytics event data for at most 14 months; its cookies expire after up to 2 years, or when you withdraw consent.
- Purchase records may be retained where accounting or tax law requires it.
7. Your rights and choices
7.1 Your account
- You can see and change your account details in the App's settings.
- You can delete your account at any time — see the account deletion page for the exact steps, or write to support@medicaldutch.app.
7.2 Microphone, notifications and tracking
Microphone access is requested only when you first open a speaking exercise, and the exercises are optional. You can turn notifications and tracking on or off in the App and in your device settings. Turning tracking off limits our marketing measurement; it does not limit the App.
7.3 Rights under GDPR
If you are in the European Union you have the right to access your data, correct it, erase it, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, write to support@medicaldutch.app. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
8. Security
- Traffic between the App and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS/TLS.
- Data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure, encrypted at rest.
- Access to production data is limited to the people who need it for support or maintenance.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise absolute security — but we treat your data as confidential and review our practices regularly.
9. Children
The App is intended for people aged 16 or over, or the age of digital consent in your country if that is higher. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe we have, write to support@medicaldutch.app and we will delete it.
10. Where your data is stored
Your account data, learning progress and files are held in European Union regions — our database runs in the EU multi-region and our file storage and server-side functions run in Belgium. Some of our providers, and the speech recognition services described in section 2.2, may process data outside the EU, including in the United States. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards those providers offer, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App changes or the law does. The new version appears on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
