Terms of Use

1. Introduction

These Terms govern your use of Medical Dutch — the mobile application, the medicaldutch.app website and any related features (together, the "Service"). By installing or using any part of the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old — or the age of digital consent in your country, if that is higher — to use the Service.

3. Educational purpose; not medical advice

The Service teaches Dutch vocabulary and phrases used in healthcare settings. It is a language-learning product. It is not medical training, not clinical guidance and not a professional qualification of any kind.

Nothing in the Service should be relied on for diagnosis, treatment, dosing, or any other clinical decision, and it does not certify your ability to practise in any country or to communicate safely with patients in a professional setting. Translations and example phrases are teaching material and may not fit the situation in front of you.

Where language competence is a condition of practising or registering in a country, only the competent authority in that country can assess it. Using the Service is not a substitute for that assessment.

4. Your account

4.1 The App creates an anonymous account automatically. To keep your progress across devices you can sign in with an email link, Google or Apple.

4.2 The information you give us should be accurate and kept up to date.

4.3 You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@medicaldutch.app if you think someone else is using it.

5. Subscriptions and payment

Part of the Service is free; the rest requires an automatically renewing subscription bought inside the App. Prices and any introductory offer are shown before you buy.

5.1 Who takes your money. Payment is processed by Apple or Google under their own terms. We never handle your payment details. We use Adapty to manage subscription status.

5.2 Renewal. A subscription renews for the same period at the current price until you cancel. Your payment method is charged up to 24 hours before each renewal.

5.3 Taxes. Prices are shown in your currency and may include or exclude VAT depending on where you are. The store calculates and remits the tax.

5.4 Cancelling

• Apple App Store: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Medical Dutch → Cancel Subscription
• Google Play: Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Medical Dutch → Cancel subscription

5.5 Refunds

• Bought on the App Store: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides and Apple pays.
• Bought on Google Play: email support@medicaldutch.app with your order number and we will review it.

5.6 None of this limits refund or withdrawal rights the law gives you — including the 14-day right of withdrawal for consumers in the EU and EEA.

6. What you may and may not do

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own learning. You agree not to:

• copy, modify, translate, reverse-engineer or decompile the Service, or build something derived from it
• extract the learning content in bulk, or republish it
• work around or interfere with security features
• share your account with other people
• use the Service unlawfully

7. Intellectual property

The content and the software — text, audio, images and code — belong to us or to our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You get the licence in section 6 and nothing more.

8. What you send us

If you send us feedback or report a problem with a card, you allow us to use what you sent to operate and improve the Service. You confirm that you are entitled to send it.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties, listed in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for their content or their services.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that every defect will be fixed.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability will not exceed the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or €50. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Indemnity

You agree to cover our reasonable costs if a third party brings a claim against us because of how you used the Service, what you sent us, or a breach of these Terms.

13. Ending it

You can delete your account at any time — see the account deletion page. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms. Sections 6 to 14 survive.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Cyprus. Please write to us first so we can try to sort out any dispute directly. If that fails, the courts of Cyprus have jurisdiction — unless consumer law gives you the right to bring the case where you live, which it may well do.

15. Changes

We may change these Terms. The new version appears here with a new "last updated" date, and continuing to use the Service means you accept it.
